At the center of this practice is a focus on preserving humanity in the psychotherapy space. In a system increasingly dominated by algorithmic approaches to mental health, I believe that psychological services must retain a fundamentally human stance. This philosophy comes from deep engagement with individuals who have experienced the full range of human suffering, resilience, and integrity.
A veteran who risked his life to uphold the values of freedom, and who now seeks treatment for traumatic stress. A mother who’s identity was upended when her children moved out of the home, and who now is undergoing the process of navigating this life transition. A young man who lost touch with reality when he was not prepared for overwhelming circumstances, and who now is making sense of his experience.
Working closely with individuals who have experienced a wide range of challenges has broadened my understanding of what it means to be a human. Suffering takes many forms, and the individuals that I’ve worked with have shown me that, even in the most fractured states, there remains an enduring human core that deserves respect, seeks meaning, and retains the capacity to experience a life that feels worth living. This practice is committed to providing a space for one’s personal history, their lived experience, and their distinctly human capacities.
